The Mahayuti government has decided to create a War Room to bring together state's health programs to make sure benefits are not repeated and that the schemes are managed more efficiently.
The War Room will be led by Praveen Pardeshi, the CEO of the Maharashtra Institution for Transformation, also known as Mitra. It will function under the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and the Charitable Hospital Help Desk. The head and assistant director of the Charitable Hospital Help Cell and the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund will also be part of the team.
At present, people in the state get free or discounted medical help through several schemes. These include the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, Mahatma Phule Jan Arogya Yojana, and Ayushman Bharat Yojana. However, as per reports, the government found that some patients were getting help from more than one program.
To stop this and save public money, the government decided to set up the War Room. Its main goal is to make the process faster, combine all health schemes, and make sure that people in need get quick help.
The public can call a common toll-free number, 1800 123 2211, to get details about state and central health schemes. Enquiries, grievances, and all scheme-related matters will be handled in the War Room.
A high-level committee has also been formed by the chief minister’s office to guide the War Room. The committee will have 12 members from different departments. These include secretaries from public health, medical education and drugs, social justice, women and child development, labour, tribal development, minority development, divyang welfare, and law and justice.
