Maharashtra reported 4,981 new COVID-19 cases, 5,111 recoveries and 75 deaths on Wednesday (December 9), taking the total number of cases in the state to 18,64,348. There are 73,166 active cases in the state and 17,42,191 patients have recovered so far. The death toll is at 47,902 in Maharashtra.
In total 1,14,47,723 people have been tested in Maharashtra. The states recovery rate is 93.45 per cent, while the mortality rate is 2.57 per cent. Currently, 5,105 people are institutional quarantine and 5,43,091 are home quarantine.
Mumbai reported 716 new COVID-19 cases, 874 recoveries and 15 deaths on Wednesday (December 9), taking the total number of cases in the financial capital to 2,87,891. According to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) data, there are 11,903 active cases and 26,4228 patients have completely recovered so far. The death toll is at 10,935 in the city. The recovery rate stands at 92 per cent. At present 20,30,066 tests have been conducted by the BMC. There are 453 contaminated zones in slums and chawls while 5,373 buildings are sealed by the BMC.
Meanwhile, India reported 31,522 new COVID-19 cases, 37,725 recoveries and 412 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the tally up to 97,67,372 according to the data by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Wednesday (December 9). While in total 92,53,306 have completely recovered. The death toll is at 1,41,772 in the country. At present, there are 3,72,293 active cases. According to the ICMR, 15,07,59,726 samples have been tested up to December 9.
