The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has announced a major plan to modernise its civic hospitals by introducing advanced medical facilities at affordable rates.

Under the initiative, hospitals in Vashi and Airoli will be equipped with key infrastructure such as MRI machines and cardiac catheterisation (cath) labs, enabling patients to access specialised diagnostic and treatment services within the public healthcare system.

Officials said the move is aimed at reducing dependence on costly private hospitals and ensuring that essential services like MRI scans are available to citizens at significantly lower charges.

The project is part of a broader effort by the civic body to strengthen healthcare infrastructure, improve service quality, and expand access to advanced treatment for residents, especially those from economically weaker sections.

Once implemented, the upgraded facilities are expected to enhance capacity and provide faster, more affordable care across Navi Mumbai’s public hospitals.
