India kick-started the third phase of COVID-19 vaccinations from March 1. The Union Health Ministry has already shared information regarding on-site registrations for beneficiaries.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took his first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at AIIMS Hospital in New Delhi. He informed on Twitter regarding taking the vaccine as he wrote, "Took my first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at AIIMS," PM Modi said in a tweet.
Post this, NCP chief Sharad Pawar too took the jab of coronavirus vaccine.
COVID-19 vaccinations across India began on January 16 with priority to healthcare workers and other frontline staff. However, the third phase of vaccinations starting March 1 will be expansive in its scope as it will cover all citizens above the age of 60 and people between the ages of 45 to 59 carrying specified co-morbidities.
The Co-WIN app has been non-functional on Saturday and Sunday as it was undergoing an upgrade to prepare for the fresh phase of vaccinations starting Monday. States and Union Territories were given ample explanations on the features of the upgraded 2.0 version of the app.
