Thane logs 535 new COVID-19 cases in district, tally rises to 2,18,000

As many as 535 new coronavirus cases were reported in Thane district, taking its tally to 2,18,000 while deaths in the district rose to 5,501 after 12 more patients succumbed to the infection on Thursday. The recovery rate in the district has now reached 94.35 per cent (2,05,686) and the mortality rate is at 2.52 per cent (5,501). The district's active cases stood at 6,813.

Whereas in Thane city 48,516, Kalyan 51,393, Mira-Bhayander 23,279 and Navi Mumbai 45,860. Meanwhile, several positive cases registered in the adjoining district so far stood at 41,681 and deaths at 1,101.

Maharashtra's COVID-19 tally on Thursday rose to 17,36,329 after it recorded 4,496 fresh cases. The state also reported 122 more deaths due to the infection, taking the fatality count to 45,682. Also, 7,809 patients were discharged from hospitals during the day, taking the tally of recovered people to 16,05,064. The number of active cases currently has dropped to 84,627. The Covid-19 deaths in Maharashtra remained on the higher side, but recoveries soared and crossed 16 lakh till date even as the number of 'active cases' declined.
