Several redevelopment projects have been closed due to the lack of finance. In order to avoid the same, Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) has decided to verify the financial status of the developer, in the first phase of the redevelopment project. SRA will hand over the project only after checking the financial status of the developer.
Minister of State (MoS) Housing Ravindra Waikar informed that the SRA is divided into different sections. In section 2, the eligible slum residents are listed. Waikar further informed that SRA officials have been directed to first probe the Annexure 3-B which has been made mandatory.
When a builder is given the responsibility for more than one project, this rule will be of importance. This financial probe will inform if the developer is capable to carry more than one project,” Waikar told the media.
Meanwhile, talking about slum redevelopment, the minister confirmed that the Maharashtra government is planning to legalise the purchase of houses from slum dwellers. Actually, under the current rule, residents of slums cannot sell their homes for the first 10 years of being allocated.
