The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has successfully connected the Wadala–Thane–Kasarvadavali Metro Line 4 with the Kasarvadavali–Gaimukh Metro Line 4A. A critical milestone was achieved with the installation of a 325-ton steel span near Kapurbawdi Junction, as per the report by The Indian Express.
This 48-meter-long, 14-meter-high steel span was mounted on four steel beams using high-capacity cranes (700 and 800 metric tons), with two additional cranes (500 and 80 tons) on standby. The complex overnight operation involved over 100 personnel, including engineers, workers, and security staff, along with 6 trailers, 3 hydras, 4 ICER trucks, 3 manlifters, and 1 ambulance.

With this installation, 84.5% of Metro Line 4’s work is now complete. The successful connection of Lines 4 and 4A paves the way for the accelerated execution of the first 10.5 km stretch—from Cadbury Junction to Gaimukh—which MMRDA plans to open by December 2025.
A senior MMRDA official confirmed that trial runs on this stretch are expected to begin in the coming days.
