MHADA Flats: One more chance for mill workers

Parel - The mill workers and their kin who had remain devoid of housing scheme due to failure of not filling the MHADA form will be given a chance to fill the form in April 2017 as per the orders of the High Court, informed MHADA’s assistant chief executive officer Chandrakant Dange to a delegation of mill workers.

Some mill workers had demanded a meeting with the MHADA officials to discuss this important issue. Accordingly, the issues faced by mill workers were discussed in the meeting held at MHADA office in Bandra. The workers affiliated to the Girni Kamgar Kruti Sanghtana and their relatives had filled 1.48 lakh forms for the MHADA scheme. These forms should be scrutinised as some mill workers have bagged two or three houses. This is an injustice with other mill workers. Along with this, the possession of flats should be given to 804 mill workers who have bagged the flats in the MHADA lottery but are not given possession of their flats so that others on a waiting list should also get an opportunity, demanded Govind Mohite, general secretary of the Rashtriya Mill Mazdoor Sangh. The MHADA officials assured them to solve their problems soon. Deputy chief officer T P Rathod, Nivrutti Desai, Anna Shirsekar, and representatives of various workers union were present in this meeting.
