Activists to complain against MMRDA as Metro shed to come up at Juhu beach

Save Tree and Save Aarey activists are alleging that Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (MMRDA) hacked down trees on an 11-acre plot which is adjacent to the Khar-Danda side, to bring in casting yard for the DN Nagar-Bandra-Mankhurd Metro 2B project.

Save Tree activist Zoru Bathena alleged that MMRDA hacked down trees without proper permission. He added that he will be complaining about the same.

Casting yard will be erected on the beach

MMRDA will be placing the casting yard at Juhu's Koliwada beach where pillars, girder, and other parts will be built. This yard will come up on a 10-acre land and the work has begun 15 days before, informed Bathena.

MMRDA denies the allegations

PRK Murthy. Director (Projects) Metro clarified that the work is legal and has denied all the allegations. He added that the said land belongs to the MMRDA and they have all the needed permission.
