HC warns MMRC to abide by the law or else face Metro-3 axe

In view of the problems faced because of Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation’s (MMRC) Metro-3 (Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ) project, the Bombay High Court had ordered MMRC to not work during the restricted hours in the night.

But petitioners and environmentalists have constantly notified the court that construction is still continuing after working hours. Today, the Bombay High Court rebuked MMRC and warned them that if they don’t comply with the court’s orders, they would shut the project down.

While talking to Mumbai Live, petitioner Robin Jaysinghani said that the court rebuked MMRC and have warned them that if they work beyond 10:00 pm, the entire project will be shut down.

Jaysinghani had filed a petition in the court regarding the problems Metro-3 causes. In his petition, he has demanded that people affected by the construction should be given INR 10k each month as compensation.

People complained about the construction but police didn’t do anything about those complaints. Hence, the residents took to court and filed a petition.
