The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has awarded a INR 40.99 crore contract for the construction of a new foot overbridge (FOB) connecting the upcoming Bandra Metro Station on Metro Line 2B with Bandra suburban railway station.
The project has been awarded to RK Madhani & Co., which emerged as the lowest bidder. The 278-metre-long foot overbridge is designed to provide seamless connectivity between the metro station and the railway station, significantly improving commuter convenience and reducing congestion around the busy Lucky Hotel junction.
The bridge will replace the earlier skywalk that was dismantled during the construction of Metro Line 2B. Once completed, it will offer pedestrians a safe, uninterrupted route between the metro and suburban rail networks without having to navigate heavy road traffic.
According to MMRDA, the project is expected to be completed within 18 months. The contract also includes a five-year defect liability and maintenance period to ensure the bridge remains in good condition after construction.
The new foot overbridge is part of MMRDA's broader multi-modal integration initiative, aimed at improving last-mile connectivity and enabling smoother transfers between Mumbai's expanding metro network and existing suburban railway services.
