A cookery contest with a twist

Lower Parel-  Sweet potatoes and rajgira (amaranth). These were the only two chief ingredients allowed to 20 women to whip up tasty dishes in a cookery contest organised by the Akhil Bhartiya Mahila Maratha Mahasangh. Held at Lal maidan's Bhagini Samaj Sabhagruh, the contest saw the participants churning up a variety of sweet and savoury dishes out of the two ingredients, including gulab jamun, patties, payasam and modaks. Rohini Waykar, who prepared upma bagged first prize for cooking with sweet potato and Shraddha Parab won second place for cooking patties made with rajgira. The Mahasangh president Kavita Vichare, secretary Jyoti Indap and Suvarna Pawar were present for the contest too.
