Nightlife Zones

These zones will be known as nightlife zones which will come up at Veer Nariman Point, Ballard Pier and Horniman Circle in South Mumbai. Though this will be on a temporary basis, if it garners a good response, then it will be replicated in other parts of the city, reported The Indian Express.

NRAI Proposal

CM took this decision with the office-bearers of the Nariman point Association of India (NRAI) who were pushing for this proposal. He has directed government officials to initiate the process and asked the BMC commissioner Ajoy Mehta and police commissioner Dattatary Padsalgikar to run this proposal on a pilot basis.

Restaurateurs want these zones across Mumbai

Though this is a good news for Mumbaikars, restaurateurs were not happy with the proposal and wanted these zones to start across Mumbai. CM believes that food trucks will be a good option as it will benefit women self-help groups in Mumbai. He also spoke about independent liquor permit policy for rooftop bars which has been delayed.
