As Shiv Sena celebrated its 52nd Foundation day anniversary, Nawazuddin Siddiqui is all immersed in the shooting of Thackeray, where he plays the lead role portraying former Shiv Sena supremo, Balasaheb Thackeray and expressed his heartfelt feelings.
One of the most versatile actors in Bollywood starring in a variety of exquisite film genres, Nawazuddin believes that Balasaheb’s role was a larger-than-life role for him. Reminiscing Thackeray’s transparent personality, Nawazuddin says that the role has been a lifelong experience for his career.
Director Abhijeet Panse has known Nawaz for a long time and had always imagined him for the role of Bal Thackeray. Sanjay Raut, writer and producer of Thackeray said that the role was simply meant to be played by Nawazuddin.
Balasaheb fought for the rights of the common man and treated everyone like a superhuman. Sanjay Raut says that a biopic based on the noble life that Balasaheb led was a must after Gandhi.
Abhijeet Panse, who made his directorial debut with ‘Rege’ is now undertaking the direction of Thackeray. Sources say that the film shows several unknown facets of Balasaheb’s life.
