Political activity in the city has picked up pace ahead of the Thane Municipal Corporation elections, and there are signs that the equations will change in the upcoming elections due to the party defections. Former opposition leader of Thane Municipal Corporation, Prakash Barde, has bid farewell to the Ajit Pawar faction and rejoined the Nationalist Congress Party - Sharad Chandra Pawar party.
MLA Dr. Prakash Barde joined the party along with hundreds of his supporters at a program organised at the party's central office in Thane under the leadership of Jitendra Awhad. City President Suhas Desai, Working President Prakash Patil, Women's Working President Sabiya Memon and others were present on this occasion.
Along with Prakash Burde, North Indian Cell Thane District President Pankaj Pandey, Balu Chougule, Sachin Hanumante, Ramesh Sankpal, Aniket Shelar, Sunny Kasbe, Rakesh Singh, Vikes Yadav, Sanjay Pawar, Ramchandra Yadav, Sarvesh Kumar, Miraj Khan, Shubhangi Babar, Rekha Jha, Neelam Vishwakarma, Maushina Khan, Meera Pathak, Bhagyashri Jadhav, Suman Mishra, and others have also joined. This influx has strengthened Sharad Pawar’s faction in Thane ahead of the municipal elections, delivering a setback to Ajit Pawar’s group.
Right decision taken today
Dr. Jitendra Awhad said, “Prakash Barde and Pankaj Pandey, who worked shoulder to shoulder with me for many years but were away from us for some time, have taken the right decision today.
Speaking about inclusive leadership, Vishwas Prakash Barde told us that, “The development of the Kalwa-Mumbra area has taken place under the leadership of Dr. Jitendra Awhad. "He brought this neglected area into the mainstream. We have faith in his inclusive leadership."
