Ahead of the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections, Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday held a meeting with party workers in Mumbai along with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. However, Shah refrained from meeting any Shiv Sena leader including party chief Uddhav Thackeray.
Amit Shah was on a two-day visit in Maharashtra. On September 1, the BJP President addressed a rally in Solapur as a part of ‘Mahajadesh Yatra’ launched by CM Fadnavis while on Monday Shah visited Siddhivinayak Mandir and met the party workers here.
However, the BJP leaders speculated that Shah would meet Thackeray to resolve the seat-sharing issue ahead of the upcoming polls in Maharashtra.
While addressing the rally in Solapur, Shah targeted the opposition in Maharashtra saying that no one will be left in the opposition parties except NCP chief Sharad Pawar and senior Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan if BJP opens its door.
During 2014 Maharashtra assembly elections, of the 288 seats, BJP had won 121 seats. With several senior leaders from Congress and NCP being inducted in the ruling parties, the opposition seems weak. Moreover, some leaders will again be inducted in the ruling party BJP during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit in Mumbai.
