The Indian National Congress has demanded that the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) convene a special meeting to address the shortage of commercial LPG cylinders affecting restaurants and small food businesses across Mumbai.

Congress leader Ashraf Azmi raised the issue, stating that irregular supply of commercial LPG cylinders has created serious problems for eateries, hotels, and street-food vendors in the city. Many establishments rely heavily on these cylinders for daily cooking operations.

According to Azmi, several small restaurants and food vendors are struggling to operate because they are unable to obtain cylinders on time. Some businesses have reportedly reduced their menu offerings or temporarily halted operations due to the shortage.

The Congress leader urged the civic administration to immediately review the situation and hold a special discussion in the municipal corporation. He also called on authorities to coordinate with gas supply companies to ensure a stable and uninterrupted supply of LPG cylinders.

Party representatives warned that if the shortage continues, it could severely affect Mumbai’s food service industry and the livelihoods of many workers dependent on it.
