On Friday, the Congress party said that amidst attempts to form a proposed opposition alliance, they will not come together with Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS). Maharashtra Congress President Ashok Chavan stated that the party has already spoken with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) about the same.
Meanwhile, NCP wants an alliance with the Raj Thackeray-led political party. Earlier, NCP senior leader Ajit Pawar had met Thackeray and discussed things.

The major reason behind the denial of alliance with MNS is because the party has been aggressive against North Indians and that could potentially hurt the Congress' image. Chavan also said that they were waiting for Dalit leader Prakash Ambedkar's reaction about the entire episode.
Meanwhile, Ambedkar and AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi have agreed to contest together and will come together as an allied force.
