In a shocking twist, Devendra Fadnavis takes oath as Maharashtra Chief Minister again as Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) sides with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to form the government in the state. Senior NCP leader Ajit Pawar becomes the Deputy CM.

The oath was administered by Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari at Raj Bhavan. The Governor cancelled his meeting which was scheduled in Delhi today over the political development in the state.

People had given us a clear mandate, but Shiv Sena tried to ally with other parties after results, as a result, President's rule was imposed. Maharashtra needed a stable government, not a 'khichdi' government," said Fadnavis after taking oath.

The political deadlock in Maharashtra comes to an end nearly after a month since the assembly election results were declared on October 24. The state was under the President's rule since November 12 after no party was able to form the government in Maharashtra.
