The Mahayuti alliance, comprising the BJP, Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde) and NCP (Ajit Pawar), is set to retain its power in Maharashtra after a thumping majority in the state. However, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Ministers Ajit Pawar and Devendra Fadnavis said the parties will discuss the next Chief Minister.
As soon as it became clearer that the coalition is set for landslide victory, the NDA chief and Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked the citizens of Maharashtra. Taking it to social media platform X, he shared: "Development wins! Good governance wins! United we will soar even higher! Heartfelt gratitude to my sisters and brothers of Maharashtra, especially the youth and women of the state, for a historic mandate to the NDA. This affection and warmth is unparalleled. I assure the people that our Alliance will keep working for Maharashtra’s progress. Jai Maharashtra!"
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Saturday lauded the "Ladki Bahin Yojana" as a transformative initiative, declaring it the driving force behind Mahayuti's resounding electoral success in the state.
He said: "Ladki Bahin Yojana became our game changer. It defeated each of our adversaries. I have not seen such a victory in my memory. We will not be swayed away by the victory but this has increased our responsibility for sure. We have to behave responsibly now."
Moreover, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that people's showered the Mahayuti with love after it worked on policies for women, farmers, unemployed and poor. "They alleged we are buying leaders, they even went to court, but failed," he said.
