Jain sage Nilesh Chandra Vijay had announced that he would sit on a hunger strike unto death at Azad Maidan on November 1st to protect Jain temples, pigeon houses, and cows. However, the police have denied permission for their protest. It is understood that the permission was denied in the backdrop of a holiday and a planned MNS march. This protest by Jain sages will now take place on November 3. Sage Nilesh Chandra Vijay has warned of a hunger strike until death.
The Jain community, which has become aggressive due to the closure of pigeon houses in Mumbai, has decided to protest at Azad Maidan under the leadership of Jain sage Nilesh Chandra Vijay. Jain sage Nilesh was scheduled to go on a fast unto death to protect pigeons on November 1. However, the police have denied him permission for the protest on November 1.
Nilesh Chandra Vijay said that permission was denied because it was a holiday. On the same day, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena and Mahavikas Aghadi have also called for a march demanding correction of the voter lists. Therefore, the Jain sages' protest has been postponed. It will now be held on November 3rd.
Will there be a response from the Jain community?
Meanwhile, the organisers are also doubtful about the extent to which the Jain community will respond since November 3 is a Monday and the protest has been allowed on this day.
Doubts are being raised as to whether the people of this Jain community, which has a large number of businesses and shops, will close their businesses for a day and join this protest.
Nilesh Chandra Vijay informed that he will sit on a hunger strike to death at Azad Maidan from November 3rd, not only for the protection of pigeons but also for the rights of animals and birds in general. Nilesh Chandra Vijay alleged that during this Hindutva government, cows are not safe, dogs are not safe, pigeons are not safe, elephants in the monastery are not safe, and now even Jain temples are not safe.
Jain boarding case sparks anger
Meanwhile, the Jain boarding case in Pune has sparked anger in the Jain community. Muni Nilesh said that since the case of selling a Jain boarding place in Pune has come to light and the name of a BJP representative is in the news, this issue will also be opposed in this protest.
