Opposition leader Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil on Monday slammed the BJP-Shiv Sena government over the constant hike in the prices of petrol and diesel. He said that the central government should help reduce the inflation by decreasing the tax.
The commoners are giving thousands and crores of rupees from their pockets in the name of tax and the government should work towards regulating the rising price of petrol and diesel, Patil said.
Earlier in May 2014, the Congress government spent $110 on a barrel of crude oil and the petrol and diesel were not so expensive then as they are now when the barrel of crude oil only costs about $80. However, now the prices of crude oil has dropped from $110 to $40 and the government did not reduce the price of the petrol and diesel in the retail sale, said Patil.
Opposition leader asserted that the price of the crude oil has been declined by more than 60 per cent and the central government has deprived its consumers of adequate profits. He further added that the government doesn’t have the moral authority to disclose the reasons for the increase in the prices of petrol and diesel.
Now, the government has the duty to reduce the petrol and diesel prices or else the Congress party will protest against the same, said Vikhe Patil.
