Atalji was behind my appointment as Lok Sabha speaker: Manohar Joshi

While expressing concerns for Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's health condition, Former Chief Minister and Lok Sabha speaker Manohar Joshi remembered that it was because of Vajpayee that he became the speaker of Lok Sabha.  

Speaking at an interview, Shiv Sena veteran informed that he first met the former PM in a meeting in Mumbai. “When I became Maharashtra’s CM, BJP and Vajpayee were fully supportive,” said Joshi.

 

I went to a meeting in Mumbai with Balasaheb Thackeray and for the first time there I met Atal Bihari Vajpayee. I never thought of becoming Lok Sabha speaker. However, BJP and Vajpayee chose me for the role of Lok Sabha speaker,” Former Lok Sabha Speaker Manohar Joshi informed.

Speaking about the relationship between Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray and Vajpayee, Joshi informed that they both shared a healthy and friendly relationship.

 

They both understood each other very well and both parties shared the same understanding and maintained an adjusting relationship. Atalji supported the idea of informing about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Veer Savarkar to MPs and commoners. Thus, we get to see the oil paintings of these great men in Parliament House,” said Joshi.
