All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief Badruddin Ajmal has been admitted in Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai. However, the cause of his admission to the hospital is unknown. Ajmal is a Lok Sabha MP from Dhubri parliamentary constituency in Assam.

Ajmal is a strong voice against the National Register of Citizens (NRC) survey carried out by the central government. The NRC in Assam has left nearly 19 lakh people declaring them as “illegal immigrants” and most of them are from the Muslim community.

Ajmal has maintained that there are several flaws in the way NRC was being carried out while demanding improvement in the process.

Born in Assam’s Nagaon, Lok Sabha MP Badruddin Ajmal completed his education from Deoband, Uttar Pradesh. He won the Assam assembly polls in 2016 on seats including South Salmara and Jamunamukh with a huge margin.

In Assam, Ajmal-led AIUDF has 13 MLAs and in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the party contested on all 14 seats while winning on three.

Ajmal is not only a politician but a businessman too with a turn over worth ₹2,000 crore in his perfume selling venture. Apart from India,  his company exports perfume to Dubai and Paris.
