NCP President Sharad Pawar went to Delhi on Monday to meet Congress President Sonia Gandhi. Talking to reporters after the meeting, he said that there is no question of seeking support from the Shiv Sena in forming the government in Maharashtra, as no such proposal has come from the Shiv Sena.
Amid the ongoing conflict in Maharashtra over power-sharing between Shiv Sena and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar on Monday evening met Congress interim President Sonia Gandhi in Delhi.
While talking to the reporters, Pawar said that there’s no question of supporting Shiv Sena to form the government in Maharashtra since they have not heard of any proposal from Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray or anyone else.
The mandate was given to NCP by the people of Maharashtra is to sit in the opposition. However, you cannot speak about the future. The BJP is responsible for forming the government in the state along with their ally as they have the numbers,” said Sharad Pawar.

During his meeting with Sonia Gandhi which lasted about half an hour, sources informed that the two leaders discussed the political situation in Maharashtra. Moreover, they talked about the possibilities of forming an alliance with Sena to keep the BJP out of power.
Shiv Sena and BJP are stuck in a deadlock to form the government in Maharashtra over power-sharing formula. Shiv Sena and BJP contested the assembly polls together and managed to win 54 and 105 seats, respectively.

While NCP and Congress won on 56 and 44 seats, respectively. There are 288 assembly constituencies in Maharashtra.
