Maharashtra Budget 2017: Concessions for farmers but no loan waivers

Maharashtra's Finance Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar on Saturday presented the state's budget on Saturday that had concessions for farmers but no loan waiver as was being demanded by the Opposition.

  • Tax on lotteries and liquors increased.
  • GST will be applicable from 1 July 2017.
  • The Central Government will compensate the loss due to GMC.
  • For the farmers, the 6% slab tax on the jio Membrane has now been reduced to 0.
  • 13.5% tax on swile testing kit has been slashed.
  • The tax on the milk testing kit has been reduced to 0.
  • 5% tax reduced to 0, on fuel for 10 airports.
  • Reduction in surcharges to promote cashless transactions.
  • 0 % tax on Gas and Electricity bodies.
  • 25.03% tax on domestic, foreign and Indian liquor by 23.08.
