According to reports, public interest litigation (PIL) has been filed before the Bombay High Court seeking registration of first information reports (FIRs) against, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, cabinet minister Aaditya Thackeray and Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut. This is being done for the sedition and breach of public peace after the turmoil in the state government midst of the rebellion staged by Eknath Shinde.

Based on accounts, the petition is filed by Hemant Patil, a Pune-based activist who seeks that the trio be refrained from conducting press conferences, tours, and visiting places in the state in regard to the issue of the Shinde-initiated rebellion.

The plea reportedly elaborated on how in the midst of the Maharashtra political crisis, the rebel MLAs flew to Guwahati for their safety in lieu of the threats given by the three. The PIL alleges that the party members began conducting protests across the state against the rebels which have intensified the power struggle.

The plea opines that this has curated panic amongst citizens who are fearing violence and riots. Further, it added that in the majority of the protests organized at the "influence and instigation" of the three in many districts in the state, antisocial elements harmed public property in front of the police. This it believes has breached the law and order in the state for which they are responsible.

Moreover, the plea claims that the Centre offering Y+ security to the rebels signifies a breach of peace in the state. It also hopes that the DGP will be asked to initiate a probe and register FIRs against the Thackerays and Raut for sedition and public nuisance.  It has been reported that the PIL will come up for hearing in due course of time.
