On August 13, 2025 members of the Marathi Ekikaran Samiti launched a protest in support of the ban on the Dadar pigeon loft. The protest was organised in response to a recent threat issued by a Jain sage, which the Samiti intended to counter publicly. However, even before the agitation could begin, police began detaining Samiti activists.
The protesters had planned to gather at the Dadar pigeon loft to demand its permanent closure and to call for legal action against individuals who defy the law and assault police personnel. Despite the protest being peaceful, police preemptively issued notices to key members of the Marathi Ekikaran Samiti and began arrests as supporters started assembling around 11 am.

Following the detentions, protesters questioned the police’s selective action, asking, “How many Jain protesters have been arrested?” They alleged bias in enforcement and reiterated their demand for strict action against those who intimidate or physically confront law enforcement.
