Will complete building Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Memorial by 2020: CM

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that the state is committed towards building Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar’s memorial by 2020. He added that the state has acquired 100 per cent of 12.5 acres of Indu Mill land to build the structure.

He made this statement while replying to a calling attention motion moved by Prakash Gajbhiye, Sanjay Dutt, Sharad Ranpise, Ashok Jagtap and others in council.

The said members enquired about the progress of the ambitious project adding that the state should speed up the project.

The CM added that the state acquired 12.5 acres of Indu Mill land for the project on April 25, 2018, of which 5 acres of land comes under Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ). He added that the state will seek permission for the same 5 acres of land as no construction is permitted. He further said that the state does not have any financial constraints as the former has Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has received ₹150 Cr funds.

Meanwhile, the CM lashed out at the opposition party leaders stating that the former didn’t do anything in the last 15 years. He added that the state will overcome all obstacles and will complete the memorial.
