Mumbai - Work on the ambitious Metro 3 project was earlier stalled the Girgaum residents as they had opposed the project. Shiv Sena too jumped in the matter to provide support to the Girgaum residents. State Guardian Minister Subhash Desai was with residents and Shiv Sena party workers in protest against the project.

Managing Director of MMRC, Ashwini Bhide visited Matoshri to meet Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray and discuss the issues. Post the meeting MMRC agreed on few terms which are as follows -

1. Shops to be given 20% extra space

2. Those who have become homeless because of the project will be paid advance rent for four years.

With MMRC and Shiv Sena landing on the same page, Metro rail 3 project is expected to start smoothly.
