Senior Congress leader, Ahmed Patel, also fondly known as Chanakya by his colleagues in the political circle, passed away on Wednesday, (November 25, 2020) morning. He was 71 and over the last few days, he was undergoing treatment at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram after being infected with coronavirus.
The news regarding his demise was shared by his son Faizal Patel who took to Twitter to inform everybody. Leaders across the country expressed their condolences after Patel's death.
Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) President Raj Thackeray also paid homage to Patel on his Facebook page and wrote that Patel was an intelligent leader and had sound knowledge and experience in politics. He knew his work and like a game of chess, he used this extraordinary ability to win political battles, which he never used it for personal envy. Precisely why he had cordial relations with political leaders of several parties across India.
His post read, "He was an exceptionally astute and a sharp leader. These qualities helped him in upping his political grasp to the level of a chess play and he made sure his moves were matchless and he emerged victorious. But, his greatness lies in the fact, that he never used his sharp mind to settle personal grudges, in fact, he remained above all this and only focussed on the betterment of his party. This made him stand out, across party lines as an amicable leader and he valued his relationships with all.
