As the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maharashtra government denied permission to Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) to organise a programme on the occasion of “Marathi Bhasha Diwas” at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Udyan in Dadar, MNS leader Ameya Khopkar has expressed his anger.

It has come across that the MVA government led by Shiv Sena has denied permission to hold a function with a large number of people gathering at a public place in the wake of the coronavirus crisis.

Taking it to Twitter, Ameya Khopkar wrote, “We have assured that the COVID-appropriate rules that the government has laid down to prevent the spread of the virus will be followed strictly. Yet, the government refused to allow the event, citing the spread of coronavirus infections and threatened to take action against the party and its leaders.

"Now there is a doubt whether this government is truly in support of Maratha. How do millions of supporters of a minister like Sanjay Rathore, who are facing serious allegations, are allowed to come together and demonstrate their strength? We insist that we will carry out the planned program in compliance with all the rules," added Ameya Khopkar.

Moreover, reacting to Khopkar’s post that says the party would conduct the function with COVID protocols, MNS general secretary Sandeep Deshpande tweeted and challenged the government to arrest Ameya Khopkar.
