Speaking after a meeting of the Mumbai City District Planning Committee, Shinde said the government will take strict measures to make the city free from illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators and drug networks.
Authorities will conduct verification drives to identify individuals residing illegally, cancel any fake Aadhaar cards or forged identity documents, and initiate legal and deportation proceedings where necessary.
The government has also directed law enforcement agencies to intensify action against drug trafficking and curb narcotics operations across the city. Alongside these enforcement efforts, the administration emphasised improving urban governance by removing encroachments, upgrading infrastructure, and enhancing public services.
Additionally, development projects worth over INR 800 crore were approved during the meeting, with instructions to ensure timely completion and maintain quality standards, reflecting the broader goal of making Mumbai a safer, better-managed, and secure metropolitan city.
