Congress leader Naseem Khan has raised concerns over the ongoing verification of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), alleging lapses in the process and warning of legal action.

Khan said that if the verification is not carried out in a transparent and comprehensive manner, he will approach the Supreme Court of India. He accused the Election Commission of India of not adhering to proper procedures during the inspection.

The issue relates to the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections, where Khan had challenged the results from his constituency in the Bombay High Court, citing alleged irregularities in EVM functioning. Acting on his petition, the court had allowed the inspection of selected machines.

Following the order, EVM verification began in Mumbai over two days. However, Khan claimed that officials limited the process to basic demonstrations, rather than conducting a detailed technical audit as expected.

He further alleged that the current verification approach does not align with established judicial guidelines and stressed that the matter goes beyond a single constituency, raising broader concerns about electoral transparency.
