Maharashtra Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Jayant Patil on Wednesday stated that the Congress and NCP alliance, as mandated by people, will sit in the opposition.

Patil said that they have been asked to sit in the opposition by the people and will discharge that duty.

This remark comes amid the ongoing conflict between Shiv Sena and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alliance over 50-50 power-sharing deal. It is being speculations that NCP-Congress alliance may join hands with Sena to form government in Maharashtra.

Senior NCP leader Ajit Pawar said that his party will focus on highlighting the mistakes of the government and will keep a tab if the government is working in the right direction.
