Maharashtra Navnirman Sena will not organise Gudi Padwa melava this year. This was announced in a meeting which took place at party chief Raj Thackeray's residence Krishna Kunj on Monday.

Political analysts say the MNS' defeat in the recent BMC elections has led to this decision. Every year, MNS used to be on the radar for crossing the sound limit during their Gudi Padwa meet. However, this year MNS president Raj Thackeray announced that there will be no Gudi Padwa meet. But, Raj Thackeray has asked all MNS local leaders to celebrate Gudi Padwa in their wards.
