Lok Sabha Election 2019: Mumbai registers 55.1 per cent voting

The voting process in Mumbai for six Lok Sabha seats was concluded on Monday and a total of 55.1 per cent voting was registered for the same. In 2014 general elections in Mumbai, the voter turnout was 51.06 per cent. 

As compared to last LS polls, the voter turnout in Mumbai has witnessed only a 4 per cent increase. With 59.32 per cent voting in Mumbai North constituency, the voter turnout was 8 per cent more as compared to the last national election which registered 51.06 per cent voting.

  • North-East constituency – 56.31 
  • North-Central constituency – 52.84
  • South-Central constituency – 55.35
  • South constituency – 52.15

Mumbai has managed to maintain its low voting turnout since decades. The highest voter turnout was registered in the year 1989 with 57.7 voting percentage. After that, for decades, the voter turnout reached above 50 per cent was in the year 1998 and 2014. In Maharashtra, the voting process has been concluded with 60.68 voting percentage.
