PMAY scheme hits a roadblock

Mumbai - The state housing department has suspended the tenders for 33,513 homes being built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. The land to be used for the project, falls under the jurisdiction of the Konkan division, but does not belong to the housing authority, MHADA. Hence, the housing department has suspended the tendering process for these homes, it is learnt. The homes were to be sold to the financially weaker sections at a cost of Rs 10 lakh each. MHADA's Kokan Mandal had issued tenders on 24 October for the homes to be built at 11 different locations, including Thane, Khalapur and Kalyan.
