Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan has demanded that the state government publish a white paper detailing the actual outcome of investment agreements signed at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos. He said the government should move beyond headline-grabbing figures and present transparent data on real investments, implemented projects, and employment generation.

Chavan questioned the repeated announcements of investment proposals worth lakhs of crores, stating that the public deserves clarity on how many of these Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) have translated into functioning industries in Maharashtra. He stressed that merely showcasing large numbers without implementation misleads citizens and unemployed youth.

Raising concerns over the credibility of the Davos announcements, Chavan also criticised the signing of agreements with Indian business groups at an international forum, calling it a “cruel joke” on the concept of foreign direct investment. According to him, such practices dilute the purpose of participating in global platforms like Davos.

He emphasised that transparency, accountability, and genuine job creation should be the government’s priority rather than publicity-driven claims. The former chief minister reiterated that a white paper would help assess the real economic impact of past and present Davos investment commitments.
