Farmer leader Raju Shetti and several protesting farmers were detained by the police near Girgaon Chowpatty in Mumbai while marching toward the Chief Minister’s official residence, ‘Varsha’ bungalow.

The protest was organised to demand higher compensation for mango and cashew farmers from the Konkan region who suffered major crop losses due to unseasonal weather and pest attacks. Farmers claimed that the financial aid announced by the Maharashtra government was inadequate and did not reflect the actual scale of damage.

The march, led by Shetti under the banner of the Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana, began at Girgaon Chowpatty and was heading toward Varsha bungalow when police intervened and detained several participants to prevent escalation.

Protesters demanded compensation of INR 5 lakh per hectare for mango orchards and ₹3 lakh per hectare for cashew plantations.
