Samarjeet Ghatge has rejoined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Mumbai, marking a significant political development in Maharashtra. His return took place in the presence of senior BJP leader Ravindra Chavan, signaling the party’s intent to strengthen its base in the Kolhapur region.
Ghatge had earlier left the BJP and joined the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction) ahead of elections, where he contested but failed to secure a win. His “ghar wapsi” reflects the ongoing political realignments in Maharashtra, where leaders frequently switch affiliations based on changing electoral dynamics.
This move is particularly important for Kolhapur politics, as BJP looks to consolidate its influence by bringing back experienced regional figures like Ghatge.
