Mumbai Congress President Sanjay Nirupam wrote a letter to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis demanding the suspension of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Ajoy Mehta. Nirupam stated that Mehta and some senior officials were directly involved in the ₹500 crore land scam in Jogeshwari. Along with the suspension of the BMC Commissioner, Nirupam has also demanded legal action against him.

According to Nirupam, the land belongs to a person named Gyanprakash Shukla in 2014, who had approached Bombay High Court stating that the land belonged to him and the BMC had allegedly taken it from him under reservation. But BMC did not return the land after the term of the reservation was over so he demanded that the land should be given back to him.

Eventually, the BMC lost the case as there was no lawyer from their side. After which, the BMC refused to challenge the court's decision in the Supreme court.

On the other hand, Congress corporators demanded that the investigation about the scam should be conducted by a retired judge. Alongside, they demanded the suspension of Chief of Law department and Chief Engineer of the DP department. NCP and SP corporators too demanded an inquiry.
