Maratha Reservation: Petition seeks Maharashtra government to submit report to Bombay HC

After Maharashtra cabinet passed the Maratha reservation bill, a petition filed in Bombay High Court wants the state government to submit the report to the HC. The report was submitted to state chief secretary by Maharashtra State Backward Class Commission earlier.

In the petition, Petitioner Vinod Patil demanded the state government to provide a copy of the report to him and the court citing the reason as transparency regarding the issue. The court will hear the matter on Wednesday.

Earlier on Sunday, while addressing a press conference, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis informed that the report has been passed by the cabinet. Meanwhile, the winter session of Maharashtra Assembly was also commenced on Monday. 

The report will be presented before the state assembly and the CM informed that Maratha community will get reservation under Socially and Educationally Backward Class (SEBC) category.
