The Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena faction has decided to remain in the opposition in the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC), ruling out any participation in the formation of the civic body’s ruling alliance.

The decision was taken at a meeting held at Matoshree, chaired by party chief Uddhav Thackeray, and attended by elected corporators of the Thackeray group. Thackeray reportedly made it clear that the party had contested the KDMC elections against the BJP and the Shinde faction, and therefore, joining hands with them would go against the people’s mandate.

The leadership also expressed concern over the unavailability of some corporators, noting that a few elected representatives have been out of contact since the election results. The party warned that disciplinary action could be initiated against those corporators who fail to stay in touch or deviate from the party line.

With no party securing a clear majority in KDMC, political maneuvering continues among various factions. However, the Thackeray group has reiterated that it will play the role of a strong opposition in the civic body.
