Thane: TMC to organise mini marathon on May 11 to raise awareness about voting; Click to know more

A mini-marathon has been organised in Thane on Saturday, May 11 in the morning to create awareness about voting in the Lok Sabha elections that are scheduled to be held on May 20. The Thane Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao has appealed to as many runners as possible to participate in this marathon as this is a joint initiative of Thane Municipality, Collectorate, Thane District Athletic Association and Thane Citizens Foundation.

Thane Municipal Corporation has undertaken various activities under 'Sweep' to increase the voting percentage in the general elections. As the polling day is falling on Monday, May 20 in addition to the weekend, awareness is being made so that the citizens do not miss voting. A mini-marathon with the message 'Run and Vote' has been organised on Saturday, May 11 to commemorate this vote. Commissioner Saurabh Rao has appealed to citizens to participate in it on a large scale and spread the message of voting from house to house.

On Saturday, Collector Ashok Shingare and Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao will flag off this mini marathon in front of Dr Kashinath Ghanekar Theater at 6:30 am. In this marathon, groups are divided into above 12 years, below 15 years, below 18 years, above 18 years. The prize distribution ceremony of the marathon will be held at Ghanekar Auditorium.
