Without making a formal announcement, Shiv Sena on Sunday announced the names of its candidates who will be contesting the assembly elections in Maharashtra scheduled on October 21. This comes amid the ongoing seat-sharing discussion between Sena and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

While Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday was in New Delhi to finalise the names of the party candidates, Shiv Sena provided AB forms to nine candidates without making any formal announcement.

Along with this, Sena announced names for some more seats which are “tussle free”. In its informal candidate list, Shiv Sena has named its prominent leader Deepak Kesarkar who is a sitting MLA from Sawantwadi assembly constituency and Sada Sarvadkar, an incumbent MLA from Mahim constituency.

The AB form which Shiv Sena has provided to its incumbent MLAs will allow them to file their nomination for 2019 Maharashtra assembly elections.

Yuva Sena chief Aditya Thackeray has also been named to contest assembly elections from Worli constituency. However, no official announcement has been made in this regard.

Here are the following incumbent MLAs from Shiv Sena who received AB forms:

  • Sanjay Shirsat – sitting MLA from Aurangabad West
  • Rajesh Kshirsagar – sitting MLA from Kolhapur North
  • Deepak Kesarkar – sitting MLA from Sawantwadi
  • Sanjay Ghadge – sitting MLA from Kagal
  • Sangram Kupekar – sitting MLA from Chandgarh
