Five months ago, Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) president Gautam Chatterjee gave a decision that buildings where residents are residing and do not possess occupancy certificate (OC), they do not need to register themselves with MahaRERA.
But now the latter has changed its decision saying that buildings which do not have OC should register with MahaRERA.
On February 5, 2018, MahaRERA’s member B D Kapadnis announced that buildings which have residents and no OC should register with MahaRERA. And if a developer tries to avoid registration then the developer will be fined ₹50,000.
Pune resident Parag Mantri had complained to MahaRERA about his building which did not have OC nor it was registered with MahaRERA. Mantri complained against Green Space builder. During this hearing, on February 5, 2018, the MahaRERA officials gave out the verdict that buildings which will have residing residents should register with MahaRERA.
The same decision was taken in Mumbai when Kandivali resident Sejal Gandhi complained against Kamala Vihar Sahkari Grihnirman Society about not having OC.
Maharashtra Societies Welfare Association’s president Ramesh Prabhu welcomed the decision adding that all buildings will come under the safe wings of MahaRERA.
