The benchmark indices ended in the green. Nifty ends above 14,500 and Sensex gains 568 points. Metal, FMCG and Auto stocks outperform.
At close, the Sensex was up 568.38 points or 1.17 per cent at 49,008.50 while the Nifty was up 182.40 points or 1.27 per cent at 14,507.
About 1633 shares have advanced, 1283 shares declined and 167 shares remain unchanged.
On the Nifty 50 index, Tata Steel (6.04 per cent), Bajaj Finserv (4.53 per cent), Asian Paints (4.29 per cent), Hindalco (4.19 per cent), Tata Motors (3.80 per cent) were the top gainers for the day while UPL (-1.72 per cent), Power Grid Corp (-0.83 per cent), Eicher Motors (-0.77 per cent), IndusInd Bank (-0.53 per cent) and ITC (-0.33 per cent) were the top losers for the day.
On the sectoral front, all the sectoral indices ended in green led by Nifty Metal which was up 3.6 per cent.
The BSE Midcap and Smallcap index gained more than 1 per cent each.
Author’s View: Nifty has a stiff resistance at 14,600 zone. Any decisive move above this zone can attract fresh buying and we may see a quick move in index towards 14,800 – 15,000.
