No tiffins for Mumbaikars this Friday and Saturday as dabbawalas go to Pandharpur

Dabbawalas, the people who carry tiffins for office-goers on a daily basis in Mumbai, will be on leave on July 12, Friday and July 13, Saturday. The dabbawalas will be visiting Vitthal Rukmini temple in Pandharpur, celebrating the Ashadhi Ekadashi festival. Accordingly, the Mumbai Dabbawala Sanghatana President said that the dabba service will be non-functional for the two days.

Lakhs of devotees visit Pandharpur every year to celebrate Ashadhi Ekadashi and worship their deities at the Vitthal Rukmini temple. The Vitthal Rukmini temples across Mumbai are also extremely crowded during the festival.

The people visiting the temples ask the deities for prosperity and happiness for themselves as they pray at the Vitthal Rukmini temples. Similarly, the dabbawalas will also seek blessings from the deity.
