The 2018 Commonwealth Games hockey opener between India and Pakistan was an enthralling one as Pakistan, who were trailing India 0-2 after the first half, scored twice including one in the dying seconds of the match to hold India 2-2 draw.
India's Dilpreet Singh scored in the first quarter while Harmanpreet Singh converted a penalty corner in the second to give Indian men’s hockey team a 2-0 lead after the first half.
Pakistan gained momentum in the second half even as the Indians lost their shape in the middle.
They made it 1-2 with a Muhammad Irfan Jr. strike before Ali Mubashar scored the equaliser when Pakistan were awarded a penalty corner with just seven seconds to go in the match.
The decision was controversial and it ended the match in disappointment for India as they were a few seconds away from clinching a win.
